Last week, I hit up the mall for a little retail therapy. It was a celebratory outing as I had gotten my first ever part-time job! Even though I had yet to make any real money, I of course decided I deserved some new clothing pieces. Typical me. However, I was running low on summer clothing pieces. After my weight gain I only fit into two pairs of shorts, (this is how I reason my purchases), and the whole boho vibe given off by seemingly every store I walked into was too much to resist. Funny, considering my style is completely the opposite of boho. I like to declare my style as minimalist and modern, but whenever the warm weather comes around I feel an urge to break out my inner Vanessa Hudgens and rock the Coachella garb.
At first I walked into H&M, which I find is very hit or miss. Some days I love everything from this Scandinavian brand, but some days I'm underwhelmed. This, was one of those days. Fortunately, Forever 21 being ever-so reliable soothed my pains, and I found two items I absolutely adored.
These trousers were to die for. The print was so oriental, and I was immediately drawn to it. Coupled with the contrasting blue and orange, it made for an essential summer pant.
I resisted for so long, but eventually I too joined the crop trend. Although I feel I took a slightly more sophisticated route with this black, high neck crop top. It fit loosely on my boyish body and gave this sports luxe vibe.
I then headed into Sirens where I spotted these Coachella inspired flowy shorts, and I simply had to have them.
And lastly, I purchased this black halter top. I'd been eyeing a top like this from Brandy for ages, but with the $6.00 price tag on this affordable dupe I could not resist.
Now that I survey my purchases, I feel slightly disappointed. Most of them were impulse buys which break the bank, and add to the mounds of junk in my closet. This Friday I'm getting my first pay check, and with the on-going sale at Aritzia I know where my money will be going. I'm off to do yoga now.
See you soon,
-P
